Daily accomplishments should never be underestimated and for certain shouldn’t be overlooked.
It is that feeling of having totally washed the very last dish while you have successfully navigated through the day with two small children, knowing everyone made it through unscathed, fed, happy and you even have a clean counter. This is time for celebration! This means that tomorrow morning you don’t wake up unwillingly to look at your kitchen sink, knowing with dread, that your day will start with a sink full of dirty dishes. Instead you greet the day with a loud “I’m such an accomplished adult” because I have a clean kitchen.
There is to be a certain exhilaration of not only washing a load of laundry but having had it dried and folded and put away all on the same day, it must be akin to what Thomas Edison felt when he invented the light bulb.
The mere accomplishment of having brushed your teeth, washed your hair and put on a totally clean outfit and you’re not even leaving the house that day! It must be what it feels like to be standing at the peak of Mount Everest. For any parent who has 4 children, 2 under 7 years of age, will understand that this is a major accomplishment.
The moment when you realize that you just managed to clean every major room (kitchen, bath, living room, entry) in your home all on the same day and only the good Lord knows how you managed it while you cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner, worked (in my case this consist of Etsy communications, blogging and vlogging), once again feeling like a full fledged adult that appears to have it all together. Basking in the moment only to have your 7 year old bring you back to reality with one mere questions, “who’s coming over?”. This brings me to the reality that apparently I only get the entire house clean when company is coming. A shattering of reality.
